Eroticism in paintings and stories at the CAN BONI Gallery
Last week "CAN BONI" gallery presented an exhibition of works of multi-artist Pasha Shappo
Last Friday at the "CAN BONI" gallery (c/ Forn de la Gloria, 8 / c/ de Can Boneo, 2A) there was a presentation of an original exhibition of paintings by Russian multi-artist, painter and writer Pasha Shappo entitled "Hornet’s Breakfast. Whispered Stories", dedicated to eroticism.
This evening "CAN BONI" gathered many guests from different parts of the world - Spain, Russia, Peru, Germany, Cuba, France, Ukraine and Argentina: collectors, gallerists, fellow artists, amateurs and masters, including artists Joan Gibert, Armando Gomes de la Parra, Renzo Núñez-Melgar Vega, Andrey Shchurok, art historian and critic Jaume Llabres, impressario Ahmid Shafi, singer Nermin Goenenc, fashion designer Monica Motta, writer Carlos Ordinas Noguera, Roman Hillmann, and many others.
Pasha Shappo specially flew in from Italy, where he has been working lately, to personally present his exhibition "Hornet’s Breakfast. Whispered Stories", which consists of a dozen works combined into one story, where each picture becomes another chapter of an erotic story. Powerful energy, a bright mixture of emotions, erotic thoughts and sexual feelings - these are the first impressions from the creativity of Shappo in this exhibition, which is confirmed by the feedback of the guests of the presentation. According to the artist, the most important in his fate are women, life and painting. And his painting organically combines minimalism and interesting accents, playing with color and "air" on canvas. His paintings are some kind of stop-frames from the film, which immerse the viewer in the plot and the appropriate mood. Such stories were seen and read by the guests of the presentation in the "CAN BONI" gallery.
“Pasha Shappo's works are very illustrative, they easily show the artist's idea, - the distinguished guest of the presentation, the famous Spanish artist Joan Gibert shares his impressions. Looking through his paintings, you can understand what the author has written in the novel itself (and for each work in this exhibition there are short erotic stories describing the subjects of the paintings). We can guess about it because his works reflect it very precisely. At the same time, he organically weaves interesting accents into his works - details, elements, nuances that give the works a special charm. It's like "tasty" shots from a movie (and Pasha works a lot in movies too)! Very interesting artist, good work! - says the maestro.
To date, the artist's works have been purchased by the Museum of Contemporary Russian Art in New Jersey, the Vitebsk Museum of Art, and are in private collections in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Germany, France, Mexico, Lebanon, Austria and Switzerland.
The exhibition "Hornet’s Breakfast. Whispered Stories" in the "CAN BONI" gallery will be held until February 21, 2020. Entrance is free.
ADDITIONS. Pasha Shappo is a famous Russian artist, who lives and works in Minsk and Moscow. He has been actively exhibiting since the late 90s. He can rightly be called a multi-artist, because, in addition to painting, Pasha successfully realizes himself as a film and theater artist, scenographer, director, writer. But his main passion remains painting. For example, easel painting, graphics, collage, etc. The creative way of Pasha began in the city of Vitebsk (Belarus), where at that time his father - the famous graphic artist Vladimir Shapo - worked. There Pasha graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts. Then he moved to Minsk, worked in St. Petersburg, Baku, Moscow, and in Warsaw and Mexico. Today the artist is a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists, Cinematographers and Designers.
