Art Therapy Center "CAN BONI"
Art therapy (from the English art. "Art") - a direction in psychotherapy and psychological correction, based on the use of art and creativity for therapy. In the narrow sense of the word, art therapy usually refers to art therapy with the aim of influencing the psycho-emotional state of the patient.
The main goal of art therapy is to harmonize the mental state through the development of the ability of self-expression and self-knowledge. The value of the use of art for therapeutic purposes is that it can be used at a symbolic level to express and explore a variety of feelings and emotions: love, hate, resentment, anger, fear, joy, etc.
The technique of art therapy is based on the conviction that the contents of the inner “I” of a person are reflected in visual images whenever he paints, paints a picture or sculpts a sculpture, during which the state of mind is harmonized.
From the point of view of psychoanalysis, the main mechanism of art therapy is sublimation - a protective mechanism of the psyche, which is the removal of internal tension by redirecting energy to achieve socially acceptable goals, creativity. This mechanism was first described by Freud.
Art therapy is a combination of psychology and creativity. When a person is engaged in creativity, he is immersed in the process and is left alone with himself, focuses on the present, learns to express himself and becomes acquainted with his inner world, splashes out emotions and controls them. In isotherapy, they do not paint pictures as such, the main goal is to express their state of mind: emotions, feelings and sensations. It does not need the idea of the canvas or the talent of the artist; but the color of the paint used is important, for example. The promise that a professional can decipher is important. If a person does not understand what to draw and how it can help, then the problem may lie in a specialist - he must adhere to the method of treatment and must prepare patients. The therapist is the conductor of a person in a state when he is ready to transfer his inner world to a sheet of paper.
Modern practical psychology is actively using the direction of art therapy. Despite the apparent simplicity, art therapy is a rather deep form of psychotherapy that complements the main therapy in the treatment of neurosis, depression, stressful situations, increased anxiety, etc. In addition, it is a kind of psychological relief, which is also necessary for a healthy person. Men so often sets himself limits. Why not do something you never did? Unconventional actions often save the most hopeless situations.
All our unspoken thoughts are blocked in the body, and this leads to physical and neurotic disorders. Splashing emotions and feelings on canvas, on paper, a person helps himself, his body, to get rid of unnecessary "blocks" and be alive. Creative manifestation of oneself is a way to oneself, an opportunity to successfully build one’s life. With the passage of art therapy, a person reproduces his subconscious in a visual expression. Every person has a need to express himself, and, creating something, he feels satisfied, as if he finds himself, harmony in himself.
